• Phone number – Used to create and verify your account
• First and last name – Displayed to your friends on the app
• Profile photo – Optional; displayed to your friendsContent You Create
• Recommendations – Titles, descriptions, photos, videos, tags, and locations you add when recommending (or not recommending) items
• Rec requests – Questions you ask your friends for recommendations
• Responses to rec requests – Recommendations you link or create when responding to friends' requestsDevice & Technical Information
• Push notification token – To send you notifications (friend requests, new recs, rec request responses)
• Crash reports – To fix bugs and improve app stability (if crash reporting is enabled)Contacts (with your permission)
We access your phone contacts only to help you find friends who already use RecSpecs. We do not upload, store, or share your contact list. Contact matching happens on your device.2. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATIONWe use your information to:
• Provide and improve the RecSpecs app
• Authenticate your account and keep it secure
• Show your recommendations and rec requests to your friends
• Send push notifications (e.g., when a friend responds to your rec request)
• Help you find and connect with friends who use the app
• Fix bugs and improve app performance
• Comply with legal obligations3. WHO SEES YOUR INFORMATION• Your friends – Friends you connect with can see your name, profile photo, recommendations, and rec requests
• You control your connections – You only connect with people you invite or who invite you via a secure, single-use code tied to a phone number
• We do not sell your data – We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes4. THIRD-PARTY SERVICESRecSpecs uses the following services to operate:• Firebase (Google) – Authentication, database, file storage, and push notifications. Google's privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy
• Apple – Push notifications via Apple Push Notification service (APNs). Apple's privacy policy: apple.com/legal/privacy5. DATA RETENTION• Your account and content remain until you delete your account or delete specific content
• If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data in accordance with our data retention practices and applicable law6. YOUR RIGHTSDepending on your location, you may have the right to:
• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data

Last Updated: January 2026Welcome to RecSpecs. By downloading, installing, or using the RecSpecs app, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the app.1. DESCRIPTION OF SERVICERecSpecs is a mobile application that lets you share recommendations with trusted friends. You can create recommendations, ask friends for recommendations, save recs you like, and connect only with people you choose.2. ELIGIBILITYYou must be at least 13 years old to use RecSpecs. By using the app, you represent that you meet this requirement and have the legal capacity to enter into these terms.3. ACCOUNT• You need an account to use RecSpecs. You create an account using your phone number and verify it via SMS.
• You are responsible for keeping your account secure and for all activity under your account.
• You must provide accurate information (e.g., your name) when setting up your profile.4. ACCEPTABLE USEYou agree to use RecSpecs only for lawful purposes and in a way that does not:
• Harass, abuse, or harm others
• Post illegal, offensive, or inappropriate content
• Impersonate anyone else
• Spam, scrape, or misuse the service
• Attempt to access other users' accounts or data without permission
• Violate any applicable lawsWe may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms.5. YOUR CONTENT• You own the content you create (recommendations, rec requests, responses, photos, etc.).
• By posting content, you grant us a license to store, display, and transmit it as needed to operate the app (e.g., showing your recs to your friends).
• You are responsible for your content. Do not post anything you do not have the right to share or that infringes others' intellectual property or privacy.6. PRIVACYYour use of RecSpecs is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect your information. By using the app, you consent to our Privacy Policy.7. SERVICE AVAILABILITY• We strive to keep RecSpecs available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access.
• We may change, suspend, or discontinue features or the entire service with reasonable notice when possible.
• We are not liable for any downtime, data loss, or issues arising from service changes or outages.8. DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTIESRecSpecs is provided "as is" and "as available." We disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be error-free or secure.9. LIMITATION OF LIABILITYTo the fullest extent permitted by law:
• We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.
• Our total liability for any claims related to RecSpecs is limited to the amount you paid to use the app in the past 12 months (or $100 if you paid nothing).
• Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases, our liability is limited to the maximum permitted by law.10. INDEMNIFICATIONYou agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of RecSpecs, your content, or your violation of these terms.11. CHANGES TO TERMSWe may update these Terms of Service from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app or by other reasonable means. Your continued use of RecSpecs after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the new terms. If you do not agree, you must stop using the app.12. GOVERNING LAWThese terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of the United States.13. GENERAL• If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
• Our failure to enforce any right does not waive that right.
